Install Rear-facing Convertible with LATCH
This video highlights 2 important installation tips for a rear-facing convertible seat installed with LATCH:
- On a rear-facing convertible seat, use your stomach to 1. push the car seat into the back of the vehicle seat and 2. sway the car seat side to side – WHILE you pull the LATCH belt tight
- Always pull the tail of the LATCH belt from “inside” the car seat – not from “outside” – see this earlier post for more on inside vs. outside as there are some exceptions to this rule
While the seat shown in this video is a Graco My Ride 65, the techniques apply to most rear-facing convertible seats (see the above blog post on inside vs outside for a list of seats that are the exceptions to the “inside” rule)
I just wanted to say THANK YOU for posting this. We were about to return what we thought was a faulty carseat because we couldn’t get the latch straps to tighten. But now all is secure and we’re ready to go! Thank you so much!
